PS: when i feel like i'm in a rut or have a block I like to study other people's work and make a song with the same feeling, but as differently as i can. Maybe pick your favorite video game soundtrack and try it with one of those pieces? Kingdom Under Fire: Circle of Doom is one of my personal favorites when it comes to game soundtracks.
